It is essential, however, that the trolley 5 comprises at least two projections 16 extending in the longitudinal direction of the timber conveyor, forwards and backwards, which projections protect at least partially the soft coating of the wheel 10 against impacts of the root end of the log or any other projection when the log arrives at the conveyor. The projections 16 are preferably clamped e.g. by welding at a V-shaped support 15. The shape of the projections 16 can be selected, but it is essential that the projections prevent the log from hitting the soft surface material of the wheel 10. Preferably, the projections 16 extend almost over the entire width of the support 15 in the transverse direction of the timber conveyor and project in the transverse direction of the timber conveyor so far that they extend, seen from above, almost as far as the radius of the wheel 10, corresponding to or even outside the radius. The projections 16 can be manufactured so that they also extend over the support 15 in the transverse direction of the conveyor, whereby a better protection of the wheel is obtained. The pin-shaped projections placed at a distance from each other in the transverse direction also produce the same effect as the projections 16. The trolley 5 can also be arranged to run on two guides, the conveyor chain running in an open space between the guides. Figures 4a-4d show a number of preferred embodiments of a trolley 5 according to the invention. Figure 4a shows a two-part projection 17 of e.g. fl akkjäm, fastened with welding on both sides of the trolley 5. In Figure 4b the projections are formed by six pins 18 on both sides of the trolley 5. In Figure 4c only two pins 19 have been used on each side of the trolley 5. The pins 17 and 19 in the examples can also be triangular projections seen from the side, obtaining a more stable clamping of the supports at trolley 5.
